Help for firms to cash in on Tour de France

BUSI­NESSES are be­ing ad­vised to take full ad­van­tage of the Tour de France when it comes to Ash­ford on Sun­day, July 8.

The Town Cen­tre Part­ner­ship has or­gan­ised a Tour de France in­for­ma­tion evening for traders next Wed­nes­day from 5.30pm in St Mary’s parish church.

The Tour de France route will in­clude Ash­ford town cen­tre, with road clo­sures in op­er­a­tion for much of the day that will cut off ac­cess to a large part of the south­ern edge of town.

How­ever, with thou­sands of vis­i­tors in town, busi­ness should be able to ben­e­fit.

At the meet­ing, the county coun­cil’s project man­ager for the event will give an over­view on the im­pact and how traders can take ad­van­tage of the day.

On race day, Ash­ford will be on show to more than 200 mil­lion TV view­ers world­wide, and thou­sands of peo­ple in the town it­self and Ash­ford Town Cen­tre Part­ner­ship wants to make cer­tain the town is open for busi­ness to give vis­i­tors an ex­pe­ri­ence to re­mem­ber.

Be­fore the race, the Tour de France Road­show will be visit­ing Ash­ford on Sun­day, May 6.
