Metro dumped out of Charity Cup by Chilham
METRO bowed out of the Autoworld Garages Canterbury Charity Cup (Senior section) when they down 7-4 to Chilham after extra time.
Nick Green, Mike King and Gavin Dixon put Chilham three up by half time but the villagers’ back four went missing and allowed Metro back into the game.
Keith Shaba slid in Metro’s first but that was cancelled out by Dixon’s second and the tie seemed over.
Further goals from Sammy Beale (2) and Shaba made it 4-4 before, in extra time, Chilham’s Chris Bennett (2) and Nick Green killed off the Ashford side.
BETHERSDEN ended Whitstable Taverners interest in the ADS Mortgages Canterbury League premiership title race with a 2-1 defeat in which Tommy Carlton scored twice, with the winner coming just seconds before full time.
Kennington slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Division 2 promotion hopefuls Cherry Orchard.
Robert Wing scored five minutes before the break while Jake Eastwood added a second from the penalty spot and with 20 minutes remaining Darren Cox fired in the third from an acute slant.
