Metro dumped out of Char­ity Cup by Chil­ham

METRO bowed out of the Au­toworld Garages Can­ter­bury Char­ity Cup (Se­nior sec­tion) when they down 7-4 to Chil­ham af­ter ex­tra time.

Nick Green, Mike King and Gavin Dixon put Chil­ham three up by half time but the vil­lagers’ back four went miss­ing and al­lowed Metro back into the game.

Keith Shaba slid in Metro’s first but that was can­celled out by Dixon’s sec­ond and the tie seemed over.

Fur­ther goals from Sammy Beale (2) and Shaba made it 4-4 be­fore, in ex­tra time, Chil­ham’s Chris Ben­nett (2) and Nick Green killed off the Ash­ford side.

BETHERS­DEN ended Whit­stable Tav­ern­ers in­ter­est in the ADS Mort­gages Can­ter­bury League premiership ti­tle race with a 2-1 de­feat in which Tommy Carl­ton scored twice, with the win­ner com­ing just sec­onds be­fore full time.

Ken­ning­ton slipped to a 3-0 de­feat to Di­vi­sion 2 pro­mo­tion hope­fuls Cherry Or­chard.

Robert Wing scored five min­utes be­fore the break while Jake East­wood added a sec­ond from the penalty spot and with 20 min­utes re­main­ing Dar­ren Cox fired in the third from an acute slant.
