Drivers face closures as ring-road transformed
ROAD and lane closures are planned as the next phase of the ring-road transformation gets underway.
North Street will be temporarily closed from Sunday for 12 weeks.
From this time, Wellesley Road North will be closed at the Mace Lane junction to prevent a ratrun.
Work is also set to start on the New Street junction and the existing signals will be removed, allowing free traffic flow but down to one lane. All other traffic movements will be controlled and temporary controlled crossings will be provided.
Work will continue in Station Road and Vicarage Road.
Some work to install ducts to central islands is planned for Sundays as Station Road will be reduced to one lane.
The £11.3million scheme, launched in January, is expected to take up to 18 months.
