Heinz soup: Mum finds unsavoury variety…

Disgust as ‘slug-like’ object found in product about to be fed to baby

A MOTHER was horrified when she opened what looked like a can of worms to feed her baby.

Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup is one of sevenmonth-old Oliver Matthews’ favourite meals.

But mum Rebecca White, 29, of Earlsworth Road, Ashford, says she could not stomach it again after making an unwelcome find in the tin.

“There was masses of what looked like a slug, worms or snake skin in it,” she said.

“About half the tin was full of it and it made me heave.

“It certainly looked like a creature of some kind.”

The slimy sample was collected by environmental health officers for analysis and has been sent away for further tests.

“To think I was that close to giving that to my baby,” said Miss White.

“He is on finger food at the moment and he likes to dip his bread in the soup.

“I gave him beans and sausages instead and he was quite happy!”
