Child porn offender awaits his sentence
A MAN who admitted downloading 134 indecent images of children onto laptop computers is this week awaiting sentence.
Colin Lovely, 54, of Cuckoo Lane, Ashford, pleaded guilty to 14 counts of making indecent photographs of children when he appeared before magistrates last Wednesday.
The court heard that police officers executed a search warrant at his home at 6.30am on April 26 last year, finding two laptop computers in the living room.
The computers were investigated, and the officers took photographs of what they found on the screen.
Anna Kachingwe, prosecuting, said: “It’s a lengthy list of exhibits. The police officer says in his statement he reviewed the exhibits and graded them in accordance with sentencing advisory panel guidelines.”
These guidelines grade the content of pornographic pictures of children in terms of the harm they do to the victims, with level one the least serious and level five the most, the court heard.
Two of the images found on Lovely’s computer were graded at level five and 24 of them at level four.
Lovely’s solicitor said his client had co-operated fully with the investigation, and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Magistrates decided their sentencing powers were not sufficient to deal with the case, and sent Lovely to crown court to be sentenced.
