LAS Vegas came to Ashford when the International Hotel was transformed as the scene for this year’s charity Kidney Ball. A limousine, red carpet and a guest star Elvis impersonator, greeted guests on arrival for a sparkling reception. During the marquee meal, fund-raising fun and games were held. Among the 250 guests were transplant patients, renal consultants and nurses and friends and family of organiser Sue Hills, from Mersham, herself a kidney transplant patient and chairman of Kent Kidney Patients’ Association. She has organised the ball for the past nine years. A casino proved a huge draw, with a bottle of champagne and a model Porsche for the winner. The event raised more than £4,000.
