Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

JUDGE Michael Lawson, QC, said that something had to be done to stop Carpenter, who admitted burglary, preying on people. He told her: “You are clearly someone who has found a way of making money which is thoroughly dishonest. You have used it again, despite being sentenced to imprisonment on the first occasion.” The judge said that he had no doubt that Carpenter merited a jail sentence, but agreed to impose 12 months suspended for 18 months. He called for three-monthly reports to ensure she was keeping to the terms of the order. “Whatever your difficulties are, you know the difference between right and wrong,” said Judge Lawson. “You had better think carefully about how you will lead your life in future.”
