Electricity still there for golden couple
Shadoxhurst couple celebrate golden wedding
THEY met working at an electricity company and 50 years on the spark is still there.
Retired electrician Peter Palmer, 75, and wife Josephine, 71, say the reason it works so well is they always look on the bright side.
The couple, who live in Tally Ho Road, Shadoxhurst, married on March 30, 1957 at Christ Church in South Ashford.
They met at Seeboard, then based in Victoria Road, where Mr Palmer was an apprentice electrician and Mrs Palmer worked on the switchboard.
They have lived in Shadoxhurst for more than 40 years and have involved themselves in village life.
They are keen gardeners and have travelled the world on holidays with Shadoxhurst Gardening Club.
For nine years the couple also volunteered at the William Harvey Hospital shop.
Mrs Palmer was a member of the League of Friends commit- tee during that time, while her husband was president of Ashford Probus, a group for retired professional men.
Summing up the key to their success, Mrs Palmer said: “We attribute our happy life together to facing challenges head on, sharing the good times and the bad and always looking on the bright side of life.”
