Five gen­er­a­tions at 90th birth­day

IT WAS a gath­er­ing of the clan when Kate Benn, of High Halden, cel­e­brated her latest mile­stone with five gen­er­a­tions of her fam­ily. For Mrs Benn, who cel­e­brated her 90th birth­day on Moth­er­ing Sun­day with a meal at Lon­don Beech Golf Club and is pre­par­ing for an­other party trip on the Kent & East Sus­sex steam rail­way next week, it pro­vided an his­toric photo op­por­tu­nity. Gath­ered at the home of her daugh­ter Sylvia, at The Chen­nells, where she now lives, were grand­son Shane Clayson, great-grand­son Gary Clayson, who un­til re­cently was land­lord of The Che­quers vil­lage pub, and his six-week-old twins Bai­ley and Tyler, who now take her to­tal of great-great-grand­chil­dren to three. She also has 27 grand­chil­dren and 42 great­grand­chil­dren.
