Nom­i­nate de­serv­ing young­sters for awards

THE Try An­gle Awards in Ash­ford and Shep­way recog­nise the achieve­ments of tal­ented, brave and con­sid­er­ate young peo­ple be­tween the ages of 10 and 18.

And nom­i­na­tions are needed for this year’s awards, the 11th to be held in the area.

Young car­ers, chil­dren in­volved in school or com­mu­nity projects and those with par­tic­u­lar skills all have a chance.

Sim­ply fill out the nom­i­na­tion form here and se­lect a cat­e­gory.

Nom­i­na­tions must be in by April 30 and judg­ing will take place in May.

The win­ners will be in­vited to a pre­sen­ta­tion cer­e­mony in the sum­mer.

At the end of the year there will be an­other cer­e­mony for the over­all county win­ners.

Kent County Coun­cil youth of­fi­cer Paul Bar­ron said: “The awards mean a great deal to lots of young peo­ple.

“Those nom­i­nated ben­e­fit and oth­ers see young peo­ple pre­sented in a good light.

“We get nom­i­na­tions from par­ents, teach­ers and friends.” The cat­e­gories are: Brav­ery: Re­ward­ing out­stand­ing acts or young peo­ple who have come to terms with ill­ness and other prob­lems Per­sonal achieve­ment in the arts Per­sonal achieve­ment in mu­sic Per­sonal achieve­ment in sport or out­door ac­tiv­i­ties Good friends and young car­ers Ser­vice to the com­mu­nity Cit­i­zen­ship and en­vi­ron­ment: For groups or in­di­vid­u­als in­volved with youth ac­tion groups, school or youth coun­cils or en­vi­ron­men­tal work.

Per­sonal de­vel­op­ment award: Recog­nis­ing achieve­ments in ed­u­ca­tion and af­ter­school ac­tiv­i­ties.
