Volunteers test their first aid
ST JOHN Ambulance volunteers from across Kent dealt with a series of casualties as part of a competition in Ashford. More than 100 uniformed adult, cadet and and five to 10-year-old Badger members from divisions across the county spent the day at Linden Grove primary school at Stanhope dealing with realistic mock-up injuries. Teams were tested in practical first aid, nursing care and resuscitation in a series of closely contested scenarios. They were praised by guests including St John Council president Lord Abergavenney, county commander Alan Bourlet, his deputy Maureen Lewsey and chief executive Vanessa Hannan.
They were impressed with the enthusiasm and skills shown in dealing with the realistic patients in serious pain. The winners from each section will represent Kent at the south east regional contests to be held in Folkestone from May 11 to 13.
