Motorists are hoping that road chiefs will see the light
FEELINGS are still running high about the M20 junction 10 roundabout.
Motorists continue to add their comments to our online Speak Out about what they want to see happen when the roadworks are completed at the end of June.
Before then we will be sending our petition, which is approaching the 1,000-signature mark, to highways chiefs to show that the people of Ashford will not be happy if the traffic chaos returns.
Recent comments on our website show that for a lot of road users, temporarily turning the traffic lights off has been the cause of the roundabout flowing more freely and that reinstating them would be “madness”.
Some of you would like to see a speed camera put in their place to ensure the area does not become a race track.
On Speak Out, John Stone of Willesborough said: “At any major junction there is a choice between traffic lights or a roundabout, not both.
“It has been made clear since the removal of the lights from junction 10 the traffic flow has greatly improved.
“It would be madness to reinstate them.”
Ron Ward of Ashford said: “I gave up using this junction years ago because the lights caused so much congestion. It is a relief to be able to use it again now the lights are gone. DO NOT reinstate them.”
The Highways Agency says it is considering all options and will make a decision before the works are completed.
