A WATER company says customers must continue to save water despite the wet winter. Although reservoirs have been replenished by winter rainfall, borehole levels have not recovered from last year’s drought, prompting Southern Water’s call this week to save water. With warm weather predicted and two May Bank holidays looming, the company, which serves customers in and around Ashford, Maidstone and Canterbury, is doubly concerned that people work to save water. Resource manager Lee Dance said: “Our water resources are in a better position compared to this time last year, but because levels dropped to a record low last summer some borehole levels are still well below average. “We hope people remember that water is a precious resource which comes directly from the environment, so using water wisely should become a permanent year-round habit, not just during serious droughts.”
