A TEARFUL Mrs Sanna said her husband shouted abuse at her in front of their children that evening, and accused her of having an affair as she cooked dinner. She claimed she had not responded, and that this made him angrier. In her version of events, he grabbed her wrists, tried to drag her out of the kitchen, then slapped her with his right hand. She told the court: “It was very surreal to me. I felt like I was seeing a movie. “My head flew to one side, and all my hair fell over my face. “He hit me with a full swing from as far back as he could. Then he hit me on the other side of my face with his left hand. “I was in shock and wasn’t quite sure what was going on. My head was pounding and my face was sore. “He then grabbed my left arm in his right hand, and with his left hand he grabbed my throat. “I was terrified. I couldn’t move or breathe. I thought he was going to kill me in the kitchen with the children in the house. “I tried to push him off, but couldn’t. I punched him as hard as I could. “He flew backwards and let go of me. “He shook his head and came to then. It was very strange – he was almost like a different person. “He obviously realised what he had done.”
