THIS month energywatch revealed that record numbers of complaints were received about British Gas in March. More than 14,000 people complained, which was a new complaints record for a single company, according to energywatch. Statistics from the watchdog group showed complaints against British Gas had more than doubled since October 2005. Regarding Ms Linden’s case, Patricia Ockenden, of energywatch, said: “This is yet another example of the appalling treatment of consumers by British Gas and of the long term misery it can cause. “Erroneous meter readings, undeserved debt collectors letters and loss of credit rating rank high in the catalogue of complaints received regularly by energywatch. British Gas should recognise the distress it has caused this consumer and offer reasonable redress as a token of goodwill.”
