Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

PARKING at the proposed new campus has been a cause of concern for councillors and residents. The college says it will provide 262 spaces, 14 of which will be for disabled use. Students will be encouraged to use the park and ride scheme planned for The Warren. This, residents say, is not a solution they can have faith in, as the scheme is still awaiting planning permission. Even if approved, it will not be built by the time the college is open. The Victoria Residents’ Business and Recreation Action Group fears cars will spill over into local roads. It calculates that between 700 and 1,130 spaces will be needed to cater for students. Another option is to temporarily use Eurostar’s car park.
