In­surer on scene to re­as­sure cus­tomers

IN­SUR­ANCE gi­ant Hal­i­fax had a team on the scene of Satur­day’s earth­quake hours af­ter it hap­pened.

Tim Downes, op­er­a­tions man­ager for the South East, said: “This was a fright­en­ing event for our cus­tomers and we have to make sure they are fully sup­ported.

“The pol­icy does give full cover for earth­quake dam­age, and if our cus­tomers suf­fer dam­age we are here to help them get back on their feet. The ma­jor­ity of the dam­age was to roofs, brick­work and ma­sonry.”

Mr Downes said that by late Satur­day morn­ing, the com­pany had be­come aware of 25 dam­aged prop­er­ties at the bot­tom of Black Bull Road.
