‘Extraordinary’ feat for clarinet players

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - THE DAY THE EARTH SHOOK -

TWO students from Highworth Grammar School have achieved diplomas in clarinet playing. A-level music student Leah Welch, 18, gained a distinction from the Trinity School of Music, while Hannah Scott-Deuchar, 15, also gained a diploma.

Julie Moore, head of music at the school in Quantock Drive, Ashford, said: “They are both extremely good. You don’t expect to get many students who reach that standard.

“Hannah is only in Year 11 so it is extraordinary that she achieved that level.”

Both girls play in the school’s clarinet quartet.
