POLICE have started to hold ‘street briefings’ in Ashford to provide residents with information and to allow them to discuss problems in their area. The first sessions were held last week at the Singleton Centre. Sgt Jeff Lawrence of the Neighbourhood Unit was hoping for a larger turn out this week when the briefing was held at Hillbrow Lane, South Ashford, last night (Wednesday). Sgt Lawrence said: “Ashford is the first area in south Kent to undertake Street Briefings. Although it is early days, we anticipate that this will become another permanent way that the public will be able to meet and speak to us about anti-social behaviour in their areas. “We put leaflets through letter boxes and put up posters in local shops to alert residents to the briefings.”
