SPANISH students have been enjoying a stay in Ashford. The group’s visit has been hosted by Norton Knatchbull School. A total of 17 students from Murcia in south east Spain took part in the exchange visit. During their stay they visited Ashford Civic Centre to meet Mayor Cllr Norman Ayres, who explained his role and the proceedings of the council. Students had the opportunity to question him and were surprised to find he had a good knowledge of their region of Spain, based on his experience in that area as a young instructor for the Royal Navy. They went on to visit Ashford town and the designer outlet. During the stay they have also visited Canterbury, Rochester, London, Hastings and Rye. This is the second year that Norton Knatchbull has run the exchange organised by Anne-Marie Sladden and Hugo Todea, which enables students to learn about each other’s language and culture.
