Des­per­ate need for blood donors

PEO­PLE are be­ing asked to give blood this month at venues across Ash­ford and Shep­way. The Na­tional Blood Ser­vice says donors are des­per­ately needed in May as the two bank hol­i­day week­ends dis­tract many reg­u­lar blood donors. Peo­ple can give blood in Ash­ford, Ten­ter­den, Folkestone and New Rom­ney at the venues be­low. Ex­ist­ing donors can give blood ev­ery 16 weeks. To be­come a blood donor you must be aged be­tween 17 and 59 and weigh more than 7st 12lb.

Ash­ford: Fur­ley Hall, in Maid­stone Road, on Thurs­day, May 17 and Fri­day, May 18, from 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

Ash­ford: Saint Si­mon’s Catholic Church, Brook­field Road, South Ash­ford, on Thurs­day, May 24, from 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

Ten­ter­den: Ten­ter­den Leisure Cen­tre, Re­cre­ation Ground Road, to­mor­row (Fri­day) from 1.15pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.15pm.

Folkestone: The Grand Ho­tel, The Leas, on Tues­day, May 15, Tues­day, May 29 and Wed­nes­day, May 30, from 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm.

New Rom­ney: St Ni­cholas In­fant School, in Fair­field Road, on Sun­day, May 27, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
