Vital role played by hearing dogs

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

A HEARING dog was the guest of honour at an Ashford shop to mark Deaf Awareness Week. The Hearing Company in Park Mall is donating £20 from every hearing aid sold during the week to the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity. The training of each dog costs thousands of pounds and the charity receives no government or lottery funding. Last week people visiting the store were able to meet hearing dog Storm and learn about the role that hearing dogs play. Hearing dogs alert deaf people to specific sounds both in the home, workplace, or public buildings. Their work can help make life much more manageable and less isolated for the people they help.
