Kentish Express Ashford & District - - REMEMBER WHEN? -

QUIZ organisers did a double good deed, raising £400 for single parents as well as doing their bit to save the planet. Ashford Gingerbread, the voluntary organisation for lone parents and their children, held its green quiz at the Swan Centre, South Willesborough, Ashford. The night raised £400 for the group’s drop-in coffee mornings at St Mary’s Parish Church Hall in the centre of Ashford, which take place on the first and third Sunday of every month between 2pm and 4.30pm. Quiz night organiser and MC Dave Rains said: “We decided we wanted our quiz nights to be as environmentally friendly as possible so members brought their recycling boxes to the event so we could recycle, bottles, cans and paper that might have otherwise been thrown away.” The quiz was won by a team called We Can’t Think of a Name who walked off with a shield and a bottle of wine each. Prize sponsors included Coty (Rimmels), P&O Ferries and Wingham Wildlife Park.

Anyone who would like to join Ashford Gingerbread or obtain more information, should call Jodie on 01233 627421.
