THE new B&Q store has opened in Folkestone. British badminton player and Olympic silver medallist Gail Emms cut the ribbon to open the DIY shop in Park Farm Road. The 69,000 sq ft store, which is the size of 90 badminton courts, has created 100 jobs for the town. New services include timber cutting, paint mixing and plumbing and electricity troubleshooters. The band of the Brigade of Gurkhas played during the opening ceremony, and three former Gurkha soldiers are now working at the store.
