HOT SHOTS: Darts academy right on tar­get

THE plan to bring new young play­ers into darts with the launch of the Ash­ford Academy is prov­ing to be a hit in the town and has at­tracted sup­port from as far afield as the sport’s own news­pa­per The Oche and the Prince of Wales. The academy, held ev­ery Satur­day morn­ing at The Lo­co­mo­tive pub from 11am, aims to in­tro­duce young­sters to the sport and ws started by Mick and Jackie Apps. They have had sup­port for the project from The Oche, top pro­fes­sional Bobby Ge­orge and a let­ter from the Prince of Wales’ of­fice back­ing the scheme. Said Jackie: “We are very grate­ful for the help from our land­lords Clive and Linda Guest with the pub’s cus­tomers help­ing sup­port the project with do­na­tions. “We have been get­ting about 15 young­sters ev­ery week and they are very en­thu­si­as­tic.”aid Jackie. “It is a good sport to learn and also helps with things like men­tal arith­metic.”
