MUSIC MAESTRO: Grace is Young Musician of the Year winner
AMAZING Grace Scott-Deucher, from Highworth Girls Grammar School in Ashford, has won the Kent Young Musician of the Year title. The competition final to find the most talented musical performer was held in Maidstone after auditions to select eight regional finalists. The 13-year-old oboist who played music by Marcello and Saint Saens in her final performance was surprised and delighted with the victory. School head of music Julie Moore said that Year 8 student Grace had already passed her grade eight oboe examination with distinction. She said: “Grace is an excellent performer and I am very pleased that she has gained recognition for her talent.” The teenager also plays in many ensembles and recently took part in Music for Youth, playing a selection of recorders.
