NEW audience figures reveal that listeners like the changes made to the music and the increasingly local focus on kmfm’s radio stations in Kent. The figures, released by RAJAR last week, show total audience across the group is 192,000, which means a growth of 18,000 listeners since October 2006. This also includes CTR in Maidstone and kmfm for Ashford which launched in October 2005. Weekly hours are 10.1 and total hours have increased by 21.5 per cent to 1,947 from 1,603. This represents an eight per cent market share. The kmfm radio station plays the best music variety, 24 hours a day, with local travel and news for Kent. Head of radio for kmfm Penny Williams said: “This is a great result for us, the team has worked really hard to help get us to this position. “We’re really proud of the unique mix of local news and variety of music. “We’ve also been involved with some great promotions like ‘The Mini and the Money’ and our local bands website has really got Kent talking about kmfm. It also reinforces our commitment to local music.”
