It’s a small world but a big success
MODEL train fanatics flocked to Ashford’s Stour Centre over the weekend where a dazzling array of layouts were on display.
It was Ashford Model Railway Club’s 27th annual exhibition with more than 20 layouts, including some of the best from across the country.
These included the Anderson Lock, Bough Beech, Ilfracombe East, Clinkerford, Wildschonau and Saint Laurent en Ardennes.
Traders at the show included Picture Pride Displays, M&B Models, Euroscale Models, Mike Turner (railway artist), Videolines and Woodpecker Books.
All aspects of railway modelling were covered, from baseboard construction and scenic materials to rolling stock, lineside detailing, kits, books and DVDs.
Ashford Model Railway Club’s marketing manager, Mark Whitling, said: “This is the third year at this venue, and we have consistently attracted more than 3,000 visitors, and with some outstanding railway layouts and full trade support.
“We are indebted to the support of our many sponsors.”
