Choir aims for Tech­ni­color star­dom

A SCHOOL choir is bid­ding to ap­pear on the hit TV show Any Dream Will Do? The pop­u­lar Satur­day night show is search­ing for a new Joseph to star in a West End pro­duc­tion of Joseph and the Amaz­ing Tech­ni­color Dream­coat. Now pupils from Ash­ford Fri­ars Pre Prep school are hop­ing to be se­lected for the short­list from which Andrew Lloyd Web­ber will pick choirs to join the cast. Hav­ing watched the BBC1 search, teacher Penny Wil­letts has en­tered a choir of 20 five- to seven-year-olds. Dur­ing re­hearsals at Great Chart last week she said: “In all 50 chil­dren were au­di­tioned be­fore de­cid­ing the fi­nal 20, which was dif­fi­cult due to their en­thu­si­asm and com­mit­ment. “They have been re­hears­ing the en­try of songs from Joseph at ev­ery spare mo­ment they have had.” Now she is hop­ing the peo­ple of Ash­ford will vote for them on the web­site www.bbc.co.uk/ joseph
