Rapid way to raise money for good cause

A GROUP of friends took to the wa­ter and bat­tled the waves to raise £1,162 for The Mo­tor Neu­rone Dis­ease As­so­ci­a­tion (MNDA). The gang ven­tured to Nene White Wa­ter Raft­ing Cen­tre in Northamp­ton to tackle the ob­sta­cles in me­mory of Linda Hayes of Wye, who died of mo­tor neu­rone dis­ease in Novem­ber. Michelle Hayes, from Ash­ley, who works in Pet Es­sen­tials in Deal, got the team of fundrais­ers to­gether. Michelle, Linda’s step-daugh­ter, said: “We man­aged to raise a fan­tas­tic £1,162. “We would like to thank ev­ery­body who spon­sored us to achieve this fig­ure. “I wanted to get a team to­gether to raise money for MNDA and to help raise aware­ness of this ter­ri­ble dis­ease. “My step­mother was only di­ag­nosed with the dis­ease 18 months be­fore she died so this was is in me­mory of her. “It was a fun day, we all got a good soak­ing by plung­ing our­selves into the wa­ter or by fall­ing out of the boat.”
