Home turned into cannabis factory
AN Ashford businesswoman was horrified to discover that her late father’s home had been used as a cannabis factory for months.
The remains of 150 cannabis plants were found at a three-storey semi-detached cottage in Golden Square, off Sussex Road, New Romney,
Yvette Tamara was renting out the property that had belonged to her late father.
Tenants had been living there three months. When rent had not gone into her account one month so she put a note through the door.
When she got no reply her son went to the house and discovered the deserted home and the remains of cannabis crops strewn all over the house.
Ms Tamara, 49, a mother-of-two, who runs a hair salon in Ashford and works as a psychic, said: “There was plastic sheeting all over the floor, silver paper on the walls, a hole in the roof, all the electric wires hanging out of the walls, it was an absolute mess.
“I called the police who said the crop could have made up to £100,000.”
“There’s thousands of pounds worth of damage and I’m left to pick up the pieces.”
Police are investigating.
