TENTH NOVEL IS AU­THOR’S SEC­OND SET IN KENT

DARK­MANS is Ni­cola Barker’s 10th novel and the sec­ond she has set in Kent. Wide Open, a story about vi­o­lence and pae­dophilia, is set on the Isle of Shep­pey. The book won the 2000 In­ter­na­tional IMPAC Dublin Lit­er­ary Award, which can be won by any work of fiction pub­lished in English. In 2004, while writ­ing Dark­mans, Ni­cola also wrote Clear, in­spired by the trans­par­ent box il­lu­sion­ist David Blaine was sus­pended in over Tower Bridge.
