Vintage tractors still going strong

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OFF THE RECORD -

VINTAGE tractors wound their way through village lanes during an annual fund-raising event. More than 70 vintage and classic tractors took part in the event to raise funds for the Pilgrims Hospice. The run started at New House Farm in Smarden and did a round trip with a stop-off at the Red Lion, Charing Heath, for refreshments. The event was first held six years ago in memory of local farm worker Roy Vidler who died in the hospice. Mark Wilson, of New House Farm, said: “It was great fun and we had about 100 spectators at the farm. We were lucky because we hardly met any traffic.” The tractors dated from between 1934 and 1975.
