Breast­feed­ing mes­sage is put high on agenda

HUN­DREDS of bal­loons were re­leased by Ash­ford Sure Start last week to pro­mote the ben­e­fits of breast­feed­ing. The event was held to mark a na­tional Breast­feed­ing Aware­ness Week and it took place at the Bap­tist church in Brook­field Road. A pic­nic and other ac­tiv­i­ties were also held for the fam­i­lies who at­tended the event. The Na­tional Child­birth Trust is work­ing closely with Sure Start to help more moth­ers in east Kent learn about the ben­e­fits of breast­feed­ing. Ex­pe­ri­enced moth­ers are be­ing trained as coun­sel­lors to of­fer sup­port and ad­vice to new moth­ers who want to breast­feed their ba­bies.
