ONE man and his dog from Hothfield are training for a marathon that he hopes will produce huge sums for Cancer Research UK. Hothfield farmer Peter Howard and his labrador dog Honey are planning the 240-mile crosscountry trek from Worcester to Ashford in three weeks with fellow farmer John Ballard in memory of relatives who died from the disease last year. Setting off at the end of next month the parish councillor, who runs his mixed sheep and arable enterprise on the edge of the village, is hoping to be home in time for his 60th birthday on July 14. He said: “With the unseasonable early spring weather I am concerned that the harvest could be early which could bring problems, but I am determined to complete the challenge and would welcome sponsorship support.”
