SPRIGHTLY great great grandmother Ethel Sharp had a pleasant shock for her 90th birthday on Sunday when 80 of her family and friends gathered for an unexpected celebration party. The grand old lady of Willesborough, lives alone and cares for herself opposite the VG store in Gladstone Road which she ran for years with her late husband Bert. The surprise party was held for her at the Sandyacres sports pavilion. Ethel was expecting to be taken to a grandchild’s birthday but instead found that her landmark date made her the centre of attention with five grandchildren, 10 grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, friends and former customers all gathered together for her birthday. People travelled from across the country for the party.
