THERE’S a chance for thousands of Scouts and Guides to take a walk on the wild side when Port Lympne Wild Animal Park hosts a centenary celebration, including an evening of music from top British bands. To herald 100 years of Scouting around the world, Kent Scouts have decided to hold a Totally Wild Day on Saturday, June 30, at the 600-acre animal park, with a programme of entertainment and education. The animal park, renowned for its work in breeding and approach to conservation, was chosen by the Scouts as the park’s achievements also echo the ethos of Scouting. Andy Trill, of Kent Scouts said: “We know the day will be a huge success enjoyed by thousands of our members, their families, friends and those interested in seeing modern Scouting in action. “The bumper day will start with the opportunity to see some of the world’s most rare and endangered species.” The pop party will be hosted by Newsround presenter Lizzie Greenwood. Among the line up is Kent’s very own X-factor finalist Ben Mills. The open-day event costs £22 a ticket, including zoo and pop concert entry.
