Late birthday joy for George

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - FAMILY ALBUM -

NINE-YEAR old George Maxted has received his great grandparents’ birthday present and card almost three weeks late - thanks to the Kentish Express. Last week we carried an appeal from Alan Graham after the card and its contents was wrongly delivered to his empty property in East Stour Way, Willesborough. The story was spotted by Douglas and Irene Borton of Cleves Way, South Ashford, and the mystery of why their £10 gift voucher, card and photographs of the lad’s soccer team never arrived was solved when it was discovered they had wrongly addressed the envelope.

ANOTHER appeal was also successful when the owner of a photograph found in the Park Mall shopping centre came forward. James King, former director of the Caldicott Community at Mersham and now living in retirement in Wye, was pictured as a teenager with his brother John. He was taking the photograph with others to have them copied when they fell from an envelope and scattered in strong winds in the roof car park.
