Classical sounds from recorder

MU­SIC lovers are in for a rich ar­ray of dif­fer­ent styles of recorder mu­sic when the Con­stance Recorder Quar­tet from Birm­ing­ham Con­ser­va­toire per­forms in Folkestone on Satur­day, June 9. The con­cert, at Folkestone United Re­formed Church and Com­mu­nity Cen­tre in Rad­nor Park, will in­clude me­dieval, re­nais­sance (Du­fay and Dow­land) and baroque (Tele­mann and Matthe­son) played on copies of orig­i­nal in­stru­ments. There will also be Ja­panese mu­sic, a quin­tet by Ge­of­frey Win­ters, a take-off of Mozart, some Gersh­win and other jazz. The pro­gramme starts at 7.30pm with tick­ets payable at the door, cost­ing £5. School chil­dren go free.
