Beware of bogus callers

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - FAMILY ANNOUNCEMENTS -

PEOPLE living in Ashford and surrounding villages are urged to look out for bogus tree surgeons who claim to work for the council. Residents in Wye, South Ashford and nearby villages have been targeted by the people, who tell them they have a problem tree. Many householders have been taken in as the callers claim to work for Ashford Borough Council, and as a result, have seen their prize trees destroyed by shoddy workmanship. Tree officer Mark Symonds said: “No reputable local tree surgeon would call unannounced in the hope of finding work, it’s just not the way these professionals need to work.” Anyone who becomes suspicious should call the community safety unit at Ashford police station on 01233 660747.
