Ladies’ Day prom­ises plenty of top ac­tion

WOMEN can get a head­start this Satur­day by don­ning their fash­ion hats for a spot of fun on Ladies’ Day at Folkestone Race­course. The spe­cial day on the course’s rac­ing cal­en­dar en­ables spectators to take in the thrill of the horses thun­der­ing by while en­joy­ing a Pimm’s, wine or beer. The term Ladies’ Day orig­i­nates from Royal As­cot, a week of rac­ing at As­cot Race­course at­tended by the Queen. Race­courses all over the coun­try hold their own Ladies’ Days, of­ten sched­uled to tie in with larger rac­ing events. Folkestone Race­course is hold­ing its to co­in­cide with the Ep­som Derby. Three of Folkestone’s own six races will be shown live on Chan­nel 4. Gates at the course open at 12.05pm with the first race start­ing at 2.05pm.
