Local shopping returns

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - News -

SINCE the village of High Halden lost its last village shop residents have been forced to travel to Tenterden, Ashford or one of the villages. Now a teenager from Ashford has answered the call for local shopping by launching a weekly farmers’ market in the village’s Memorial hall. Adam Spicer, 19, from Kennington, started on Tuesday and will be back every week between 2.30pm and 4.30pm – helped by a team including his mother Jane – offering fresh fruit and vegetables and a wide selection of jams, pickles and chutney and other items from local suppliers. He saw the need to serve the community and decided to expand his services as he already runs a vegetable box delivery business.
