A Sunday stroll with a difference
MORE than 120 supporters joined Ruckinge and Hamstreet Scouts and Guides’ Jamboree Trail Day walk to raise money for group funds and Cancer Research on Sunday. In near-perfect weather, Beavers, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Rainbows and Explorers were joined by leaders, parents and friends as they set out on their countryside trek and back to their headquarters. Strolling along much of the old Saxon Shore footpath route some set out from Tenterden at 9am, and others from Appledore, Kenardington and Hamstreet. They all arrived back at the Scout HQ by 4pm for the annual meeting. At the meeting district Scout commissioner Peter Doy presented long-service medals to Scout leaders Tim Beisley, who organised the jamboree event, and David Beeching, as well as a wood badge to Melvyn Beeching.
