Bid to win share of £100m government kitty
ASHFORD Borough Council’s executive has endorsed a proposal by Ashford’s Future for a new funding bid to be submitted to the Government.
Last December the town was awarded £23 million by the communities department to help pay for growth projects.
Now the borough is to bid for a share of extra funding from another £100 million government kitty.
Council leader Cllr Paul Clokie told last Thursday’s executive meeting: “In the previous programme, the Ashford’s Future partnership made a comprehensive business case which was well received.”
Cllr Clokie added that the new bid could help provide extra money for preparing key development sites.
A decision on the bid is expected to be made later this month.
