SINCE PEGASUS founded their first satellite club at Norton Knatchbull school in the Autumn of 2005 the opportunities for Ashford gymnasts have never looked better.

The second satellite based at Beaver Green was added a year later .

The satellite centres, organised as part of Mid Kent and Ashford School Sports Partner- ship, provide the opportunity for children to experience the thrills and delights of club gymnastics under the guidance of highly qualified coaches in a safe environment.

Members have enjoyed success not only in achieving British Gymnastics Awards but also in the Kent Key Steps competitions in 2007 and 2008.

Those with aptitude have the opportunity to transfer to the club’s home, based in a converted warehouse two minutes from junction eight on the M20.

There, in a fully equipped gym including an international standard sprung floor where Ashford gymnasts have blossomed, in advanced classes for the floor and vault squad, or as members of the artistic squad system.

The gymnasts have enjoyed competing in club, county and regional competitions, benefited from training camps with a national coach from Romania and had the chance to attend an overseas training camp near Bruxelles.

Building on this success, the fantastic results of British gymnasts in the Olympics and accreditation as a potential training camp for 2012 Pegasus have launched another local club.

An additional satellite will open it’s doors at the Towers School, Ashford on Monday, October 6 with sessions for children in Key stages 1/2 as well as those in school years 7/8.
