First win for Rom­ney side

BROM­LEY GREEN fell to a third de­feat of the sea­son in the Van­danel Kent County League Premier Divi­sion on Satur­day, los­ing 2-1 at Or­p­ing­ton. Ryan Smith was the Green scorer.

New Rom­ney se­cured their first points in Divi­sion 1 East, beat­ing Oak­wood 1-0 through a Joe Bid­dle strike.

Ken­ning­ton had no league fix­ture to ful­fil, but Lydd Town’s break from league action ended in a 2-1 de­feat to Guru Nanak, in round one of the Bill Man­klow In­ter-Re­gional Chal­lenge Cup. Kevin Ben­net’s was on the score sheet for Town.

In Divi­sion 2 East, a Matt Tomkins hat-trick paved the way for Ten­ter­den Town to claim their first win of the new cam­paign, 4-2 over Saga Sports & So­cial. Si­mon Bourne was the other Town scorer.

The Ash­ford derby in Re­serves East saw Brom­ley Green beat Ken­ning­ton 6-3. Ashley Web­ster’s hat-trick was added to by Lee Nor­ton, Tom Poyn­ter and an own goal as Green moved up to fourth in the ta­ble.

Ken­ning­ton’s con­so­la­tions came from Luke Sergeant (2) and Mark Hughes as they con­tinue to strug­gle. New Rom­ney re­serves also con­tin­ued to strug­gle as they lost 3-2 at Lark­field.

HAM­STREET twice came from be­hind to beat Hope Inn 5-2 in the Ash­ford and District Satur­day League, with two goals from Andy Trott.

Mark Jones fired Hope ahead only for Trott to level and then Billy Weir re­stored Hope’s lead.

De­spite miss­ing a penalty goals from Ar­ron McGuin­ness and Trott proved decisive as Ham­street turn round 3-2 up and they added fur­ther goals from Dar­ren Whar­bur­ton and Shay McGuin­ness while Hope saw a penalty for them saved by Adam Rof­fey.

De­spite strikes by Char­lie Porter and Tom Bushell Bethers­den went down at home to Lydd A 32.

A well-con­tested premier match be­tween Rol­ven­den and Ocean ended goal­less. Jack Row­ley was out­stand­ing for Rol­ven­den only to thwarted by some out­stand­ing saves from the Ocean goal­keeper.

In Divi­sion 1 there was a 1-1 stale­mate be­twen River­side and Ten­ter­den Re­serves.

Man­ual Na­mani gave Ten­ter­den the lead from the penalty spot for a fairly harsh hand­ball but Adam nas­field struck to earn River­side a point.

Wit­ter­sham won 1-0 at New Rom­ney 3rds with a last goal and Stu­art Paer­son net­ted twice in Wood­church’s 5-2 win over Ship Inn.

Rhys Prior, David Tay­lor and Pear­son saw them lead 4-0 with Pear­son’s sec­ond an ex­trav­a­gant cross/shot that looped over the keeper.

Ship fought back with goals from Andy Nor­ris and Jack Gar­ner for 4-2 but de­spite fur­ther heavy pres­sure con­ceded a fifth to Dan Char­nell with the fi­nal kick of the game.
