Lead removed from roofs
LEAD has been stolen from two sites. Thieves removed lead from the roof of the parish church of St Gregory and St Martin’s Church in Wye. The theft was not discovered until the recent rainfall. It is estimated approximately 2sqm of lead was taken by the thieves, who would have had to climb a ladder outside the church. Another £2,500 worth of lead was also stolen from a building site in New Road Hill, Aldington. The lead was taken from two houses under construction and it is believed that the suspects used the scaffolding in order to gain access to the roofs.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact South Kent Police on 01303 289180.
