Appalling waste of our money

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Opinion -

I HAVE recently been selected to take part in a survey for Ashford council about the public services, etc, the council provides in the area. I was informed via a nicely colour-printed postcard that I was selected and a printed questionnaire duly followed. Questions referring to my local theatre and the like had to be overlooked, obviously, and when I had finished I asked myself: What was the point? You only have to pick up this paper on any given week to read a letter pushing for (quite rightly) some arts/ entertainment centre in the area. My point is, this was a prime example of the massive waste of resources by our council. Use email, ask for volunteers, set up a worthwhile online forum for locals and above all stop sending out expensive bits of card and paper that go straight in the bin with our money. The last straw was this afternoon as I watched a large banner going up on the “paper house” asking us to “kill your speed”! I have not got out of second gear in Ashford for two years!

Vickie Taylor, Ashford.
