A TEACHER will find out today (Thursday) if she has won a national award.

Nathalie Hockey, of Brook Primary School, is a finalist for a Primary Language Teacher of the Year prize.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Houses of Parliament.

The award was launched by publisher Scholastic UK and La Jolie Ronde , a language tuition supplier.

Mrs Hockey has set up links with Ecole Sainte Therese, a school in her home town of Dunkirk, France, through which pupils can email and write to each other. Trips are arranged annually.

Mrs Hockey was nominated by colleague Clare Gray who said: “Nathalie is enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable. She loves her language and her culture and communicates this to the children.”
