Run­ners ready for 10k race

BE­WARE of road clo­sures on Sun­day morn­ing as 1,000 run­ners pound the pave­ments of Ash­ford in the an­nual Gi­vau­dan 10k run. The race starts at 10am from the Julie Rose Sta­dium and the route goes anti-clock­wise down Can­ter­bury Road, up Mace Lane and Hythe Road, goes over the M20 at Sil­ver­hill Road and back up Willes­bor­ough Road to the fin­ish in the sta­dium. Roads will be closed from just be­fore 10am for about an hour. Ash­ford Olympic ath­lete Lisa Do­briskey will start the race and two fun runs for around 200 chil­dren. En­tries are about 30 per cent up on last year. Race di­rec­tor Paul Jake­man said: “We’re re­ally pleased with the re­sponse so far and we’re looking for­ward to a nice sunny week­end.” To en­ter go to www.ash­ford10K.co.uk.
