Runners ready for 10k race
BEWARE of road closures on Sunday morning as 1,000 runners pound the pavements of Ashford in the annual Givaudan 10k run. The race starts at 10am from the Julie Rose Stadium and the route goes anti-clockwise down Canterbury Road, up Mace Lane and Hythe Road, goes over the M20 at Silverhill Road and back up Willesborough Road to the finish in the stadium. Roads will be closed from just before 10am for about an hour. Ashford Olympic athlete Lisa Dobriskey will start the race and two fun runs for around 200 children. Entries are about 30 per cent up on last year. Race director Paul Jakeman said: “We’re really pleased with the response so far and we’re looking forward to a nice sunny weekend.” To enter go to www.ashford10K.co.uk.
